Kanban or Consignment Stocking could be the way forward for Customers who have regular ongoing production and need confidence that parts will be available at short notice.
Here's how it works
Where a commitment can be made by the customer on a forward demand, say 1200 parts over the next 12 months, Ashby undertake to make around three months of stock, typically 300, replenishing as it runs down (normally at the last 100 of stock). The customer calls off the parts when required, knowing that they are always available.
The main benefits to the customer are:
- Parts are available at short notice.
- Peaks and troughs in manufacturing demand can be catered for.
- Eases cashflow as customers only pay for the parts called off.
- Larger batch pricing on smaller call off deliveries.
